A general difference between banks and credit unions is that the banks often markets themselves as a full service institution.  Banks not only offer savings account, checking accounts and certificates of deposit but frequently offer money market accounts, CD secured loans, home loans, personal loans, credit cards, auto loans and more.  Most of these products and services are performed by the bank and not outsourced to affiliate firms, unlike many credit unions.  Bank customers should make the most of this.  When you have a question about any kind of financial transaction, ask someone at the bank.  They attract you with claims of service and expertise in financial matters, make them prove just how expert their service are.
