The average of the best two year CD rates available nationally remained unchanged from the previous week.  The average yield on two year term bank CDs held at 2.31% to close the week ending October 29, 2009. 

The highest two year CD rate comes from Atlantic Coast Bank with an interest rate of 2.40%.  This rate is unchanged from the preceding week.  The second best two year certificate of deposit rate comes in at 2.35%.  Two year bank CDs at 2.35% can be found at two banks, Discover Bank as well as American Express Bank.  Neither of these two banks altered their CD rates from the previous week.

The third highest two year rate can be found at State Bank of India in New York which offers a two year CD yield of 2.32%.  Capital One Bank and La Jolla Bank follow with rates that are two basis points lower at 2.30%.  Three banks offer two year bank CDs at 2.28% including; Aurora Bank, Imperial Capital Bank and NewDominion Bank all offer this rate to fall into fourth position out of the top ten best two year rates.

The list of the top ten best two year CD rates ends with Centennial Bank’s two year CD at 2.27%.

The average two year CD rates from the top ten banks did not change week over week however; a few banks altered their rates within the list.  AIG Bank and FlagStar Bank are no longer present on the list since their rates are not sufficiently high enough.  Imperial Capital Bank and Centennial Bank increased their bank rates and replaced both of the previously mentioned institutions for the week.
