The average for the top ten best two year certificate of deposit rates was down negligibly for the week ending November 27, 2009.  The average yield on two year term bank CDs fell by one basis point or 1/100 of a percent taking the rate earned on these certificates down to 2.27%.

The highest one year CD rate continues to be promoted by Atlantic Coast Bank which posts their one year CD with an interest rate of 2.40%.  American Express Bank follows Atlantic Coast again this week with a two year CD rate of 2.35%.  The third highest two year CD rate available nationally goes to La Jolla Bank with a two year bank rate of 2.30%.

Three basis points behind the top three rate leaders is the two year CD promoted by State Bank of India.  State Bank of India offers their two year bank CD with a yield of 2.27%.  Another two basis points lower are the bank CDs of Colorado Federal Savings and Discover Bank which offer two year term CDs at 2.25%.

The sixth best two year CD rates can be found at Centennial Bank where a two year CD has an interest rate of 2.22%.  Two banks follow with offers on CD rates just one basis point lower.  Nexity Bank and NewDomion Bank have two year CD interest rates at 2.21%.  The tenth highest rate comes in at 2.20% and is the product of Ally Bank.

For the week, three banks had lowered their rates from the previous week.  All three of these banks dropped their two year CD interest rates by a large enough quantity to be pushed off the top ten list of bank rates with a two year term making room for this week new entries which included; Ally Bank, NewDominion Bank and Nexity Bank.  Once again, none of the banks raised their rates this week on two year CDs.
