The best two year CD rates available nationally held their ground this week, with change in the average interest rate based on the survey of the top bank rates performed by SelectCDrates.com.  The average yield for the top ten best two year bank CDs remained undisturbed for the week at 2.03%.

The highest two year CD rate available nationally was also unchanged week over week.  The best two year CD rate held at 2.15% and is available from Tennessee Commerce Bank.  The second best two year certificate slid moderately and widened the gap between the top rate and the next best rate available.  Atlantic Coast Bank is currently promoting the second highest two year term CD with an interest rate of 2.05%, or 10 basis points below the term leader.

NewDominion Bank holds the third best two year with a rate of 2.03%.  One basis point below this certificate is the CD of State Bank of India which earns an interest rate of 2.02%.  Two banks fall just one more basis point further back.  Aurora Bank and Shore Bank are both promoting two year CD interest rates of 2.01%.

Four banks remain in the list of the top ten best two year CD rates and all four banks offer the same yields on their certificates.   The four remaining banks include: American Express Bank, Acacia Federal Savings Bank, Bank of Internet and iGOBanking.  All four banks are paying a rate of 2.00% on their two year time deposits.

Even though the average was unchanged for the week, three banks reduced the rates paid on their CDs from the previous week.  Technically, the average rate for the top ten two year bank CDs fell for the week from 2.034% to 2.027% but rounding out the figure to two decimals leaves the number unaltered.  All ten banks making the list in the prior week returned as the top rates for this week.  State Bank of India reduced their rate by five basis points while Aurora Bank and Shore Bank dropped their bank rates by just one basis point.
