Chase CD Rates for the Week Ending Aug 14, 2009

Chase CD rates were little changed for the week ending August 14, 2009.  Chase Bank CD rates did not move discernibly for the week.  The lack of activity in Chase CD rates matches the lackluster movement in national bank CD rates week over week.  This past week’s modest descent in the national bank rates was almost a welcome relief from the previous weeks more vigorous slump.

Unfortunately, the best CD rates at Chase are not often some of the top offers in the nation.  This week is no exception for the standard JP Morgan Chase CD rates.  Though Chase Bank CD rates competitive position relative to the best national CD rates has been weak, some of the special CD rates offered by Chase Bank are measurably more competitive to the national averages.

Currently Chase Bank is offering the following CD rates and CD terms for customers who already have a checking account with Chase Bank or open a checking account along with the bank CD.

9 month CD rate is 1.01%
13 month CD rate is 1.25%
18 month CD rate is 1.50%
Two year CD rate is 2.00%
Four year CD rate is 3.00%

The bank CD rates require a minimum opening deposit of $10,000.00 along with the qualified Chase checking account.

Chase CD rates are marketed based on the state or zip of the of the consumer opening the bank CD.  The CD rates posted above are based on Illinois.  Most state CD rates are similar but there are differences in CD rates between some regions.  The most apparent difference in regional bank CD rates with Chase was the four year CD rate and the five year CD rate.  In some regions the four year CD rate is advertised at a lower rate, 2.50%, as opposed to the CD rate listed for Illinois at 3.00%.  The 3.00% yield is still available albeit, on a longer five year term bank CD.

Chase Bank CD rates are subject to change.  For current CD rates and account terms, a bank representative can be reached directly at 877-682-4273.  These bank CDs automatically renew.  Account fees may reduce the marketed CD rate.  Additional bank rates and CD rates with Chase Bank are available at the bank website which is located at www.chase.com.
