While bank CD rates have continued to fall in June, Credit Union CD rates remained quite resilient. The top credit union CD rates moved modestly lower with the greatest rate reduction occurring in the very short term certificates.
Based in the most recent survey of credit union CD rates performed by Selectcdrates.com, the average rate for the most popular credit union CD terms were as follows:
The average credit union CD rate from the top ten largest credit unions on the six month term CD has a rate of 0.71%. The average credit union rate on a 1 year CD closed out the week at 0.99%. The two year credit union CD rate was down moderately to 1.42% and the average rate for the five year credit union CD stood at 2.66%.
The ten largest credit unions CDs in the weekly Selectcdrates.com credit union survey included Navy Federal Credit Union CD, State Employees’ Credit Union CD, PenFed Credit Union CD, The Golden 1 Credit Union CD, Security Service Federal Credit Union CD, BECU CD, America First Credit Union CD, SchoolsFirst Fed Credit Union CD, Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union CD and Desert Schools Federal Credit Union CD.

6 month Navy Federal Credit Union CD rate 0.80%
1 year credit union CD interest rate 1.15%. There is a promotional offer for a 1 year CD rate of 2.90% for balances that cannot exceed $3,000.00 and is available for accounts that also have a checking account and direct deposit.
2 year credit union CD rate 1.60%
5 year CD rate 2.85%
Navy Federal Credit Union CDs listed require a deposit amount of $1,000.00 with the exception of the 6 month certificate which requires a $2,500.00 deposit.
