Florida CD rates were higher across the board on the best rates available for the week ending May 29, 2009 with the one exception of the one year CD term.  The best bank CDs in Florida offer some the highest CD rates available across the nation. 

The best six month CD rate is well above the best national rate standing at 2.65% and can found at Sunshine Savings Bank as well as Atlantic Southern Bank.  All but one of the top six month CD rates is above the best national rates.  The average for the six month CD rates in Florida rose from 2.31% to 2.41%.

The rate for the best one year CD rate in Florida was unchanged for the week but the average of the highest CD rates in this term fell four basis points or 4/100 of a percent from 2.55% to 2.51%.  The top CD rate is a produced by Atlantic Southern Bank on their promotional 13 month CD at 2.90%.  Urban Trust Bank offers the next best rate at 2.75%, just under the highest national bank CD rate of 2.80%.

A search for the best two year CD rates in Florida leads to three banks that meet or beat the best national rates.  Heritage Bank of Florida is the leader in this term with a two year CD that has an interest rate of 3.05%.  First City Bank follows with a two year CD rate of 3.00%.  Urban bank and Trust rounds out the top three banks with a two year CD that yields 2.85%.

The search for the best five year CD rates in Florida also showed three banks with rates above the best national bank CD rates available.  Urban Trust Bank continues its rate dominance with a five year CD at 4.50%.  First City Bank and Fidelity Bank of Florida are a full ½ of a percent lower with five year CD rates of 4.00%.  The average of the highest rates for this term jumped from 3.79% to 3.87% for the week.
