The average rate for the top national bank CD rates with a two year maturity was down modestly for the week ending June 11, 2010. The average yield on the top ten highest two year CD rates shed one basis point or 1/100 of percent on the week. The average yield dipped down from 1.99% last week to 1.98% in the most recent week surveyed.

The highest two year CD rates available nationally held firm once again. The best two year CD rate remained at 2.05% and is available from Tennessee Commerce Bank.

The second highest two year CD rate can be found at multiple banks. The next best rate falls five basis points behind the term leader with an interest rate of 2.00%. A 2.00% two year bank rates is available on the following CDs; American Express CD, Bank of Internet CD and Seacoast Commerce Bank CD.

NewDominion Bank offers the third highest two year CD rate. The NewDominion CD has an interest rate at 1.97%. One basis point below NewDominion Bank is the CD from Aurora Bank which earn an interest rate of 1.96%.

The remaining banks on the list of the top ten highest two year bank CDs all share the same interest rate. Four banks remain with CD yields at 1.95%. The bank CDs offering this rate include NOVA Bank CD, Eastern Savings Bank CD, Shore Bank CD and Ultima Bank Minnesota CD.

Although the average rate drop was quite mild this week, four banks changed their CD rates from the previous week. One bank, Acacia Federal Savings Bank, did not return to the current top ten list due to a rate reduction that fell below the minimum 1.95% cut off. The tenth bank added from the current bank rate survey to this week’s list is Eastern Savings Bank.

Two Year CD Interest Rates June 7, 2010

The best two year certificate of deposit rates fell moderately for the week ending June 4, 2010. The average rate for the top ten best two year bank CDs fell by two basis points or 2/100 of a percent based on the survey of bank rates performed by Selectcdrates.com. The average interest rate dipped down to 1.99% at the close of the week, down from 2.01% in the prior week.

The best two year CD rate available nationally made it through the week unscathed. The highest two year CD rate remained at 2.05% and can be found at Tennessee Commerce Bank. The next best two year certificate falls five basis points back at 2.00%. A 2.00% two year CD is available at a number of banks. The American Express CD with a two year term is at 2.00% as is the Seacoast Commerce Bank CD, Acacia Federal Savings Bank CD, Bank of Internet CD as well as the two year CD from Ultima Bank Minnesota.

Following these five banks, three banks offer two year CD interest rates three basis points lower. Aurora Bank CD, Shore Bank CD and NewDominion Bank CD all yield 1.97%. The final bank on the list of the top ten highest two year CDs is NOVA Bank which earns a rate of 1.95%.

Even with just a two basis points drop in the average rate for the top ten best two year CDs week over week, four banks reduced their rates from the previous bank. NewDominion Bank, One West Bank, AIG Bank and Excel national Bank all dropped their rate paid on their two year term CDs. AIG Bank, Excel and One West all fell off this week’s list due to their rate reductions. Aurora Bank, Shore Bank and NOVA Bank replaced these banks, not due to rate increases but due to the lower threshold of the list dropping by four basis points from the preceding week.

Two Year CD Interest Rates May 10, 2010

Two year bank CD rates continued on a very slow decent down this week.  The average rate for the best two year CD rates fell by the smallest of margins for the week ending May 7, 2010.  Based on the latest survey of bank CD interest rates completed by Selectcdrates.com, the average rate for the top ten highest two year CD rates moved down by one basis point or 1/100 of a percent on the week.

The average rate for the top ten highest two year certificates of deposit available nationally ended the week at 2.01%, down from the previous week’s figure of 2.02%.

The highest two year CD rate available nationally held firm at 2.10%.  The best two year CD rate on the market is a promotional product from Tennessee Commerce Bank.  The next highest two year term deposit falls a substantial amount lower, seven basis points lower from the bank rate term leader.  NewDominion Bank offers the second best bank rate on the two year term at 2.03%.

The remainder of the top ten best two year CD rates list is comprised of eight banks all offering the same yield.  American Express Bank, Acacia Federal Savings Bank, Aurora Bank, Bank of Internet, iGOBanking, Shore Bank, Ultima Bank Minnesota and Discover Bank all promote two year CDs that earn an a rate of 2.00%.

This week’s list of the top ten best two year CD rates available nationally had only one bank rate change.  State Bank of India failed to return from the previous week at which time the bank had a two year certificate that yielded 2.02% but has since reduced that rate to 1.91% and did not make the cutoff for this week’s list.  Discover CD replaced the loss of State Bank of India for the current bank CD rate survey.

Two Year Bank CD Interest Rates April 26, 2010

Two year bank certificate of deposit rates ended the week stuck in neutral based on data from the most recent bank CD rate survey performed by SelectCDrates.com.  For the week ending April 23, 2010 the average rate for the top ten best two year CD rates available nationally closed at 2.03%, unchanged from the prior week’s average yield.

The highest two year CD interest rate was also unchanged.  The top bank rate continues to be the product of Tennessee Commerce Bank with an interest rate of 2.15%.  The second best two year rate is also unaltered and falls a full ten basis points or 10/100 of a percent behind the term leader.  The second highest two year certificate comes from Atlantic Coast bank with a rate of 2.05%. 

The remainder of the bank rates on the list of the top ten best two year CD rates are in a tight range with a spread of only three basis points between the third highest rate and the remainder of the list. 

Following Atlantic Coast Bank, NewDominionn Bank promotes a two year CD that has a yield of 2.03%.  Just one basis point beneath that offer is the bank CD from State Bank of India which has an interest rate of 2.02%.  Another one basis pint below this rate are two banks that offer the fifth highest two year rates.  Aurora Bank and Shore Bank promote two year CDs that have interest rates at 2.01%.

Four banks wrap up the list with identical rates.  American Express Bank, Acacia Federal Savings Bank, Bank of Internet and iGOBanking all have certificates of deposit that earn a rate of 2.00%.

For the week, not only did the average rate for the two year bank CD remain unchanged but all of the bank rates from the previous week carried over to the current week’s list leaving the entire list intact week over week.

While the two CD interest rates available nationally have been stable, there are not only considerable variations among the different banks on the national list but there are even greater disparities among the state CD rates.  Shop and compare the best CD rates before committing new investment dollars.

The Best Two Year CD Rates April 19, 2010

The best two year CD rates available nationally held their ground this week, with change in the average interest rate based on the survey of the top bank rates performed by SelectCDrates.com.  The average yield for the top ten best two year bank CDs remained undisturbed for the week at 2.03%. 

The highest two year CD rate available nationally was also unchanged week over week.  The best two year CD rate held at 2.15% and is available from Tennessee Commerce Bank.  The second best two year certificate slid moderately and widened the gap between the top rate and the next best rate available.  Atlantic Coast Bank is currently promoting the second highest two year term CD with an interest rate of 2.05%, or 10 basis points below the term leader.

NewDominion Bank holds the third best two year with a rate of 2.03%.  One basis point below this certificate is the CD of State Bank of India which earns an interest rate of 2.02%.  Two banks fall just one more basis point further back.  Aurora Bank and Shore Bank are both promoting two year CD interest rates of 2.01%.

Four banks remain in the list of the top ten best two year CD rates and all four banks offer the same yields on their certificates.   The four remaining banks include: American Express Bank, Acacia Federal Savings Bank, Bank of Internet and iGOBanking.  All four banks are paying a rate of 2.00% on their two year time deposits.

Even though the average was unchanged for the week, three banks reduced the rates paid on their CDs from the previous week.  Technically, the average rate for the top ten two year bank CDs fell for the week from 2.034% to 2.027% but rounding out the figure to two decimals leaves the number unaltered.  All ten banks making the list in the prior week returned as the top rates for this week.  State Bank of India reduced their rate by five basis points while Aurora Bank and Shore Bank dropped their bank rates by just one basis point.

Two Year Certificate of Deposit Interest Rates April 5, 2010

Two year certificate of deposit rates were down measurably for the week ending April 2, 2010.  This past week, the average rate for the top ten best two year bank CDs was down by four basis points or 4/100 of a percent.  The average yield for the best two year CDs has been forced downward to 2.04% from the previous week’s average yield of 2.08%.

The top two year CD rate held on this week as it did in the prior week with an interest rate of 2.15%.  The top rate of 2.15% can be found at Tennessee Commerce Bank with a minimum deposit of $2,500.00.  The next best rate comes from State Bank of India with an interest rate of 2.07% and a minimum deposit of $5,000.00.

The third highest CD rate for a two year term followed the term leaders and remained unchanged week over week.  The third highest two year CD rate is marketed by NewDominion Bank with an interest rate of 2.06%.  Two banks are nipping at the tail of NewDominion Bank with two year CD rates at 2.05%.  Both, Acacia Federal Savings Bank and Atlantic Coast Bank, have two year certificates with the 2.05% rate.

The second half of the top ten list starts with two banks, Aurora Bank and Shore Bank which offer two year CDs that earn an interest rate of 2.02%.  Three more banks offer identical CD interest rates to round out the top ten best bank rates with a two year maturity.  American Express Bank, iGOBanking and Nexity Bank all promote CDs with this term that yield 2.00%.

While the top three bank CD rates did not change from the prior week, of the previous 10 banks on last week’s list, four banks changed their rates.  Aurora Bank made a minor rate reduction of just one basis point and remains on this week list while Ally Bank, Discover Bank and Nationwide Bank dropped off the list due to the reduction on the CD rates they offer.  These banks were replaced by iGOBanking, Nexity Bank and American Express Bank.

Two Year CD Interest Rates March 29, 2010

Midterm certificate of deposit rates continued to wear down over the past week.  The average rate on the best two year bank CDs dropped once again according to the weekly CD interest rate survey performed by SelectCDrates.com.  The average rate for the top ten best two year CD rates was down by three basis points or 3/100 of a percent bring the average yield to 2.05% from 2.08% in the previous week.

The highest two year CD rate available nationally dropped measurably on the week.  Last week’s top rate came in at 2.30% while this week the best two year CD interest rate stands at 2.15%.  The rate leader is Tennessee Commerce Bank which promotes the 2.15% yield.  Tennessee Commerce Bank increased their rate from the previous week to move into the top spot.

State Bank of India holds the second highest bank rate which is the same position the bank held in the previous week albeit, at a lower rate this week.  State Bank of India now offers a two year CD with an interest rate of 2.07%.

The third highest CD rate comes from NewDominion Bank with a CD rate of 2.06%, this rate is unchanged from the preceding week.  Four banks follow with CD rates at 2.05%.  Atlantic Coast Bank which had been the term rate leader or several weeks offers a 2.05% along with Acacia Federal Savings Bank, Nationwide Bank and Discover Bank.

The three remaining banks on the list include Aurora Bank, Shore Bank and Ally Bank.  Aurora Bank offers a 2.03% two year CD, Shore Bank is at 2.02% and Ally Bank holds the number 10 spot with a yield of 2.01%.  

Rate changes from the previous week’s list of the top ten best two year CD rates included three bank rate reductions and one rate increase.  Along with the rate reductions by State Bank of India and Atlantic Coast Bank was the rate reduction by TriState Capital Bank which dropped this bank off of the current top ten list.  TriState Capital Bank was replaced by Ally Bank for the current week.

Two Year Certificate of Deposit Rates March 15, 2010

The results of the most recent weekly bank rate survey performed by Selectcdrates.com shows the average rate on the highest two year bank CD rates available nationally unchanged.  The average rate for the top ten best two year CD rates held at 2.10% for the week ending March 12, 2010. 

The highest two year CD rate continues to come from Atlantic Coast Bank with an interest rate of 2.30%.  Atlantic Coast bank has been the two year CD rate leader for most 2010.  The second highest two year CD rate for national bank CD rates is the product of State Bank of India in New York.  State Bank of India currently promotes a two year CD with an interest rate of 2.17%.  NewDominion Bank holds the number three spot with a two year CD rate of 2.11%.

Just one basis point below the North Carolina based NewDominion Bank is the two year CD marketed by Tennessee Commerce Bank which offers the certificate with an interest rate of 2.10%.  Five banks come up next with all five banks offering the same CD interest rates to with yields at 2.05%.  Acacia Federal Savings Bank, Nationwide Bank, Aurora Bank, Discover Bank and TriState Capital all offer their two year CDs at 2.05%.

The final bank on the list of the top ten best two year CD rates is Nexity Bank of Alabama which promotes a two year certificate of deposit with an interest rate of 2.03%.

The top bank rate on the two year maturity was unchanged for the week along with average rate; in fact, the only rate change from the previous week involved one bank.  iGOBanking reduced their CD rates rather substantially last week and moved off the list after offering the third highest rate during the week.  iGOBanking was replaced this week with certificate of deposit from Nexity Bank.

Two Year Certificate of Deposits Rates March 8, 2010

Two year certificate of deposit interest rates were lower once again at the end of the week.  The average rate for the top ten best two year CD rates gave up three basis points or 3/100 of a percent by the time the week came to a close.  The average yield for the two year certificates now stands at 2.10%, down from last week’s average interest rate of 2.13%.

The best two year CD rate was unaltered, Atlantic Coast Bank continues to promote the highest two year CD with an interest rate of 2.30%.  The State Bank of India also continues to hold the second highest rate with a two year CD rate of 2.17%.  Bank rates on two year two terms differ significantly from this point compared to the previous week’s rates.

NewDominion Bank has a two year CD that falls six basis points behind the second highest rate and four basis points lower than last week’s next best rate with a CD interest rate of 2.11%.  Two banks, iGOBanking and Tennessee Commerce Bank, have two year CD rates just one basis point lower at 2.10%.  The remaining five banks on the list of the top ten best two year CD rates all offer bank CDs with interest rates at 2.05%.  The reaming five banks include: Acacia Federal Savings Bank, Nationwide Bank, Aurora Bank, Discover Bank and TriState Capital Bank. 

Four banks changed their rates during this week, all of them to the downside.  Two banks were removed from last week’s list including UFB Direct which was taken over by the FDIC and AmTrust Direct which reduced their two year CD rates below this week’s cutoff.  Two new bank rates were added as replacements, TriState Capital Bank and Nationwide Bank are now found on this week’s list.

Two Year Certificate of Deposit Rates February 22, 2010

In this week’s survey of nationwide bank CD rates with a two year term, the average yield was cut down once again.  The results of the survey of two year CD rates performed by selectcdrates.com showed the average rate for the top ten best two year CDs was down by two basis points or 2/100 of a percent for the week ending February 19, 2010.  The average yield ended the week at 2.12%, down from the prior week’s average of 2.14%. 

The highest two year CD rate available nationally was unchanged for the week.  The best two year CD rate continues to be marketed by Atlantic Coast Bank with an interest rate of 2.30%.  Following this rate by 15 basis points are the CDs offered by AmTrustDirect and Discover Bank.  Both, Discover Bank and AmTrustDirect promote two year CDs that earn a rate of 2.15%.

The third highest two year CD rates is found at UFB Direct and State Bank of India, both of these banks offer two year CD interest rates at 2.12%.  One basis point beneath these two financial institutions is a two year CD from NewDominion Banks that yields 2.11%.  Tennessee Commerce Bank certificate is another one basis point lower at 2.10%.

Aurora Bank is the eighth bank on the list of the top ten best two year CD rates and has an interest rate of 2.06%.  The last two banks have CD rates on their two year certificates set at 2.05%.  The remaining two banks include Acacia Federal Savings Bank and Nationwide Bank, each which promotes a two year CD rate of 2.05%.

Changes from the previous week’s top ten best two year CD rate list includes rate reductions from three banks.  UFB Direct, La Jolla Bank and AIG Bank all slashed the rates on their two year term CDs.  AIG Bank and La Jolla moved off the list and were replaced with the bank rates from Nationwide Bank and Acacia Federal Savings Bank while UFB Direct simply dropped from having the second highest rate to the fourth highest.
